The Fetal Medicine Foundation (FMF) was started by Professor Kypros Nicolaides with an aim to improve the health of pregnancies for women through promoting research and training in Fetal Medicine. FMF India aims to carry this mission forward by addressing the specific requirements of the Indian population.
FMFIndia is a registered non-profit organisation which aims at promoting awareness, providing education and training, and encouraging research in the specialised field of Fetal Medicine within India. The long term goal is to establish a system where the benefits of Fetal Medicine are available to all pregnant women and an effective and efficient referral system exists in all regions.
FMFIndia hopes to provide accessible training to clinicians who have an interest in Fetal Medicine and the development of national guidelines.
The World Health Organisation identified 8 Millennium Goals which included reducing by three quarters the Maternal Mortality Rate between 1990 and 2015, and reducing under 5 child mortality by two thirds between 1990 and 2015. FMFIndia identifies access to high quality Fetal Medicine services in India as a significant part of this campaign.
As a responsible clinical entity, FMFIndia endorses the sanctity of life of the female and strongly condemns the practice of gender selection.
It actively stands by the PCPNDT Act 1994( Amendment 2012)
